For the third year in a row the local Lions Clubs will be putting on Lake Minnetonka’s tradition of an April charity crappie contest.
All of the proceeds from the contest and raffle will go toward our goal of sending fifteen children diagnosed with Diabetes to Camp Needlepoint by donating $22,500!
Throughout the day there will be entertainment for the kids. Events include educational games, casting lessons, knot tying, and more. After completing five events each child will receive a grab bag with tackle, shirts, and a fishing pole!
Adults aren’t left out!
Multiple raffle’s, a silent auction, and live music keeps everyone entertained. With everything going on the day of the event it is remarkable to see how many people outside of the typical fishing demographic make it out to enjoy the spring weather.
The purpose of Camp Needlepoint is to provide a fun and safe camping experience for children living with diabetes. We want to give kids the opportunity to meet other kids just like them as well as help them gain confidence and independence in managing their diabetes.
Camp is located at YMCA Camp St. Croix, south of Hudson, WI on a wooded bluff along the St. Croix River. Facilities include: a 24 hour health center, dining hall, crafts building, nature building, tennis and basketball courts, soccer fields, archery range, sand volleyball court, rope course and horseback riding area. The beach is equipped for canoeing, sailing, kayaking and swimming.
